Simple Vegan Breakfast Smoothie Overview
There are literally hundreds of gourmet vegan smoothie recipes on the internet. Searching Google for “vegan breakfast smoothie” returns 71,900,000 results. Seventy-two million!
Most of them look amazing, I will admit. Who has the time to make a gourmet smoothie in the morning, and who has those ingredients handy at all times?
I have been making this recipe for years. This smoothie is vegan, gluten-free and only has natural sugar. It contains spinach, old fashioned oats, berries, banana, my homemade vegan protein mix, flax meal, chia seeds, and water.
This Vegan Breakfast Smoothie is Fully Customizable
What’s the best thing about this recipe? You can customize this vegan breakfast smoothie to meet your taste preferences and accomplish your macro-nutritional goals.
Need more protein? Add an additional scoop of protein.
Need more of less carbs? Adjust the amount of old fashioned or rolled oats.
Staying away from fruit? Take them out.
Like chocolate? Add 100% cacao powder and a natural sugar replacement like monk fruit or Swerve. Throw in a teaspoon of pure cinnamon powder to add a bit more goodness.
Like most smoothies this requires some type of blender. I recommend an extractor/blender like a NutriBullet or Ninja. I like the 900 watt or higher versions, and I have used both of these and they both work great. An extractor not only completely breaks the food down, but it allows you to get the smoothie into your mouth as fast as possible!
Let’s look at the ingredients.
Simple Vegan Breakfast Smoothie: Ingredients
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
- 2-3 frozen or fresh strawberries
- 2 tbsp. chia seeds (~daily recommended serving)
- 2 tbsp. flax meal (~daily recommended serving)
- 1-2 scoops of a vegan protein powder (I use a blend of pea, hemp and soy protein powders I made at home)
- Water – add as much as you want to reach the consistency you want
- Cinnamon powder
- Cacao powder
- Ginger powder
- Turmeric powder or peeled turmeric root
- Natural sugar substitute like Swerve or monk fruit
Chia seeds and protein powder has a tendency of sticking to the side of the plastic extractor cup. If this happens just use a spoon to scrape it off and it up mix again.
Thats it! Make this quick, healthy vegan breakfast smoothie in 5 minutes of less and start your day off strong.
